PHY 252 - University Physics II Credits: 4
This is calculus-based introduction to electricity, magnetism, and optics appropriate for science, math, and pre-engineering students. Topics covered include electric fields, continuous charge distributions, ,capacitance, direct-current circuits, magnetic fields, inductance, alternating-current circuits, ray optics, and wave optics. An introduction to additional modern physics topics may be included at the instructor’s discretion. Deriving equations, problem solving, and application of physical principles in a variety of contexts will be emphasized. Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Prerequisite: Grade of C- or better in PHY 251 and MAT 241 Offered: Fall, even-numbered years
