MAT 142 - Calculus I


Credits: 4

This is the first course in a three-semester sequence of differential and integral calculus. This course introduces limits, derivatives, and integrals in a single-variable context. Topics include limits and continuity, the derivative, techniques of differentiation, applications of the derivative, antidifferentiation, the Riemann integral, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Fundamental knowledge of trigonometry is required for this course.
Prerequisite: Grade of “C-” or better in MAT 141 , a math ACT score of 24 or higher, an equivalent score on an appropriate placement test, or permission of the instructor
