CJ 330 - Professional Ethics & Legal Liabilities

This course examines the professional ethics associated with practitioners within the criminal justice system. The course will explore a wide range of ethical and philosophical issues and moral dilemmas within the field of criminal justice. Topics include: principles of justice, deontology and utilitarianism, philosophical issues in sentencing, police and ethics, ethics and research, and the scope of state control. Emphasis is placed on the legal liabilities, both civil and criminal, for practitioners in the enforcement and corrections fields.
Prerequisite: CJ 101  or permission of instructor
