PHIL 103 - Reason & Argument Credits: 3
The aim of this course is to introduce essential concepts and skills needed for understanding, constructing, and evaluating arguments effectively. Attention will be given to arguments that appear in everyday contexts. Central questions to be discussed include: What distiguishes an argument from a simple rhetroical tactic? What makes an argument a good one, as well as how to different types of arguments meet these standards? In addressing these questions, this course will also cover common errors in reasoning and ways to avoid them. Offered: Fall
