BIO 103 - Introduction to Plant and Soil Science Credits: 4
This course introduces the fundamental principles of plant biology and physiology and soil science, emphasizing the interactions between plants, soils, and their environments. Topics include plant structure and function, soil properties and classification, nutrient cycling, water relations, soil-plant interactions, and sustainable & traditional management practices. This course will introduce students to agriculture as a whole and how the two main components (plants and soils) interact within a production system. Laboratory and field components reinforce theoretical material through hands-on experiments and observation. The lab component will take a very fundamental and hands-on approach to agricultural equipment, crops, soils, and agronomic management as a whole. This course includes three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory each week Corequisite: BIO 103L Offered: Spring
